Out of the 237 entries submitted to the Constructive Alps international architecture competition, the jury has shortlisted 31 examples of climate-conscious renovation and construction in the Alps.
These projects include residential buildings, commercial buildings, mountain huts, a chapel, schools and different infrastructure, all of which incorporate the requirements for climate-friendly construction particularly well. You can find the full list of nominated projects here.
Constructive Alps is being held for the sixth time this year. It rewards renovations and new buildings in the Alps that have particularly strong ecological, economic, social and aesthetic features. Climate-friendly buildings are a core focus of the Swiss presidency of the Alpine Convention 2021 and 2022.
The winning projects will likely be announced at the next Alpine Conference of the Alpine Convention which will be held in Brig (CH) in September 2022. At the same time, a travelling exhibition on the nominated buildings will also be launched. The exhibition will showcase the best ideas on sustainable building and renovation throughout the Alpine region and beyond.
