On 13 and 14 May in Salzburg (AT), the Alpine Climate Board of the Alpine Convention organised a workshop to kick-start the operationalisation of the Alpine Climate Target System 2050 approved by the XV Alpine Conference. Open to members of the climate board as well as interested experts and sectoral representatives, the workshop comprised inspiring keynotes and pitches as well as intensive brainstorming sessions.
Methodological approaches to identify the most promising implementation pathways in order to reach the targets were tested; first Alpine-wide priorities in the fields of transport, energy and communication emerged. The task is substantial, and many more stakeholders will need to be involved, but there is no lack of good ideas in the Alps.
