The team of the Permanent Secretariat of the Alpine Convention visited on 8-9 May the Adamello Brenta Nature park. The visit was organized by the Large Carnivores’ sector of the Autonomous Province of Trento and had the aim to show the area’s unique natural characteristics and to present the status and management of the brown bear with an on-field approach, which gave the team the unique chance to directly spot and observe the bear. The Secretary General Markus Reiterer stated: “Seeing bears in the Alps was an emotion that will be difficult to forget. This visit was a success and confirmed the outstanding cooperation between the Alpine Convention and the Large Carnivores section of the Province in the framework of our WISO Platform, currently chaired by our Deputy Secretary General Marianna Elmi. I congratulate the Large Carnivores sector for their engagement and endeavours towards the preservation and sound management of the brown bear and thank them for inviting us”.
