Secretary General Markus Reiterer visits the Bavarian State Minister Dr. Marcel Huber

On Monday, 3 September the Bavarian State Minister of the Environment and Consumer Protection, Dr. Marcel Huber welcomed Secretary General, Ambassador Markus Reiterer in the State Ministry for Environment and Consumer Protection in Munich (Germany).

On this occasion, the Secretary General presented an update of the activities of the Alpine Climate Board, those concerning the 7th Report on the State of the Alps and issues connected to soil conservation. Connected also to climate protection and yet another priority topic which was discussed in depth is the protection and options of use of moorlands. In addition, the work of the current Youth Parliament to the Alpine Convention on the topic of soil conservation was highlighted.

Particular attention was devoted to the actions taken by the Bavarian State in the follow-up of the operative recommendations for a coherent implementation of Article 11(1) of the Protocol on Nature Protection and Landscape Conservation in the Alps. Finally, the meeting also comprised an exchange on mountain biking in the Alps and the initiative of Mountaineering Villages (Bergsteigerdörfer).
