“Il paesaggio alpino incontra la cultura. Patrimonio culturale e paesaggio per un nuovo turismo alpino” is the title of the newly available volume of proceedings from the international online conference “Alpine Landscape Meets Culture, Cultural Heritage and Landscape for a new Alpine tourism.”
The conference was held from 28 to 30 September 2020 and invited experts from different fields to examine the relationship between Alpine tourism and the cultural landscapes. The conference was an implementation of a decision taken by the Alpine ministers at the XV Alpine Conference in 2019.
The new volume has been edited by the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta and the Italian Delegation to the Alpine Convention (Ministry of Ecological Transition), with the scientific assistance of Eurac Research and the Fondazione Montagna sicura.
On the occasion of International Mountain Day 2021, the volume of proceedings will share reflections and experiences on mountain tourism at Alpine level. It will describe mountain tourism’s relations with culture including the opportunities of the UNESCO Conventions, with a focus on the Mont-Blanc candidacy project promoted by Espace Mont-Blanc. The volume will also provide insights to the cultural dimensions of Alpine landscapes and the evolution of mountain tourism, with a specific focus on the global pandemic and its implications for the sector.
