Villach Infopoint

About

The Dobratsch Nature Park in Villach, Carinthia, was Austria's first Alpine Convention Infopoint. The Nature Park sees itself as a model region for sustainable development and pursues five objectives: nature conservation, education, recreation, regional development, and research.

As an Alpine Convention Infopoint, the Dobratsch Nature Park views its main task in raising awareness of the importance of the Alpine region and its sustainable development.

To promote the Convention, selected publications including the Reports on the State of the Alps are available to the public and students at the Nature Park office. The importance of protecting the Alps is emphasised at numerous events. The park rangers are also important ambassadors for the Alpine Convention; they pass on information to locals, guests, and nature park schools. The Infopoint contributed to the 2024 edition of the Young Academics Award with a dedicated Infopoint prize.

The Dobratsch Nature Park became the seventh Infopoint of the Alpine Convention in April 2019 and renewed its cooperation with the Permanent Secretariat in 2023.
