Interreg Alpine Space programme

Since 2000, the Interreg Alpine Space programme has funded hundreds of cooperation projects tackling common challenges for the benefit of the 80 million inhabitants of the Alpine region. Funded projects involve public authorities, institutions of higher education, businesses and/or associations.

Every seven years, the programme redefines its objectives based on the needs of the Alpine region and the policy goals of the European Union. For 2021-2027, funded projects have to address one of the following priorities:

  1. Climate resilience: Promote adaptation to climate change and/or improve the protection and conservation of nature.
  2. Carbon neutrality: Promote energy efficiency and/or the transition to a circular economy.
  3. Innovation and digitalisation: Develop and strengthen research and innovation capacities and/or reap the benefits of digitalisation for a green Alpine region.
  4. Governance: Strengthen the institutional capacity of public authorities and stakeholders to implement common territorial strategies.
